iBeer and iSoda

I am just astounded at these two apps, iBeer and iSoda, how in the world are they so popular? I dont get why people are actually paying for apps like these, whats the point of them? Anyone here have them? Maybe someone can enlighten me?

A show off to friends? "Hey look what I can do" *uses app*. I only have iPint, its free so I am happy with it. but I would not pay for anything that is similar, it is a complete waste of money. Do you own these apps? And what do you think of them?
